Krohn Conservatory’s Butterfly Show Has Just a Few Weeks Left

Krohn Conservatory’s summer butterfly show has just under four weeks left. Destination Monarch, the Cincinnati Parks’ annual butterfly exhibit at the Eden Park conservatory, runs daily through Aug. 9, and families who haven’t made it in yet are running out of weekends to do it.

The show traces the monarch butterfly’s migration from the United States into Mexico’s Oyamel Fir Forests, where the species overwinters. Visitors walk through a butterfly habitat inside the conservatory, then continue into the rest of the building’s plant collections. It’s one of Cincinnati’s regular things to do with kids each summer, but this year’s run ends earlier than some families may expect.

How Tickets Work

Destination Monarch runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day through Aug. 9. Tickets are not sold at the door. Every visitor, including Friends of Krohn members, has to reserve a timed slot online in advance through the conservatory’s ticketing site.

Each reservation includes a one-hour window, with the first 45 minutes inside the butterfly habitat itself. After that, guests move into the conservatory’s other plant rooms. Arriving after a scheduled slot isn’t guaranteed entry, so building in a little buffer time is worth it.

Admission

  • Adult tickets: $12
  • Child tickets (ages 5 and up): $8
  • Children under 5: free
  • Friends of Krohn members: free with a valid membership card and photo ID

Good to Know

A few practical notes for anyone planning a visit before the show closes:

  • Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable, so double-check the date and group size before checking out.
  • Membership cards and photo ID are required at entry for Friends of Krohn tickets.
  • Several add-on events run alongside the main show this summer, including storytime sessions with the Cincinnati Public Library and evening game nights, most included with regular admission.
