Downtown Dayton Virtual First Friday

Virtual First Friday again will include a “menu” of activities, experiences, and opportunities that you can partake in from the comfort of your own home.

To bring some color and light into our worlds that have mostly consisted of the four walls of our living rooms, we’re partnering with our local downtown Dayton arts community members to showcase how artists have been creatively working during the “stay at home” orders.
Downtown Dayton Virtual First Friday, May 1st beginning at 4 pm
  • Order a takeout or delivery meal from one of the dozens of downtown restaurants committed to serving our community and keeping employees paid during this time. Most restaurants are operating on special delivery and takeout operations. Find the full OPEN* list here.
  • Shop from a local retailer who might not be able to have you in their store, but has a full lineup of goods and gift cards for sale online. Find that list here.
  • Explore a local museum, art gallery, or theater group through a virtual tour of their interactive online posts, current displays or past works. We’ve put together a downtown Dayton “Things to Do” list on our OPEN* page here.

The Downtown Dayton Partnership has worked with local arts organizations including the Dayton Society of Artists, The Contemporary Dayton, Culture Works and more, to solidify more than 15 live arts and musical acts that will be available for viewers to interact with on Friday, May 1 during the Virtual First Friday event.

This includes a live stream of the most recent gallery exhibit opening at the Dayton Society of Artists, called Intertwined. This show opening was scheduled before the pandemic forced the closure of art galleries. Gallery Director Amanda Grieve decided to move forward with the opening in an online version, producing digital components that could show off the work artists created, and to further emphasize that creativity is not shut down just because artists are required to be at home.

The Downtown Dayton Partnership will have the full list of activities all in one place and available on its Facebook event page here.

You can support local by shopping at our small businesses. More than 180 listings are currently on the www.downtowndayon.org/open pages.
