2026 Earth Day Theme:
Green Cincinnati

FREE – Sunday April 19, 2026, Noon until 5 pm, Washington Park, Cincinnati – FREE

This year’s event, themed “Green Cincinnati,” serves as a public launchpad for the city’s ambitious climate goals. Moving the festival back to Over-the-Rhine places the event at the center of the region it serves, transforming the park into a living model of the Green Cincinnati Plan. The festival expects to draw 8,000 attendees from across the tri-state region.

The festival is organized by Sustainable Principles for the first time, the layout will be physically organized around Cincinnati’s Office of Environment and Sustainability’s Green Cincinnati Plan’s three central pillars, creating an immersive educational experience:

•    The Sustainability Zone: Featuring renewable energy solutions, home and commercial building performance improvements, and career education opportunities.

•    The Resilience Zone: Focusing on community preparedness, local food systems, and adaptation strategies for a changing climate. Special focus will be on Recycling, Reuse and Composting opportunities in the Tri-state.

•    The Equity Zone: Will feature Cincinnati neighborhoods, offering them a platform to showcase local green initiatives and fundraise for community projects.

Howard Miller, Cincinnati OES Environment Division Manager, stated, “This year’s Earth Day celebration will showcase Cincinnati’s commitment in building a cleaner, more sustainable future through its expanding Zero Waste programs.” He noted that recent efforts include expanding neighborhood composting sites, improving multifamily recycling access, and placing more public recycling cans in business districts across the city. These are all helping divert thousands of tons of material from the landfill.

The Green Career Fair will return, connecting residents with living-wage jobs in the growing green economy. It represents actionable solutions for residents beyond celebration. Thanapat Vichitchot, Cincinnati OES Green Workforce Development Manager, emphasized that the Earth Day event is the perfect way to promote all the sustainable job opportunities in Cincinnati.

“We are thrilled to bring the Earth Day celebration back to Washington Park,” says Chuck Lohre, Chair of the Greater Cincinnati Earth Coalition. “This isn’t just a festival; it is a platform for the Green Cincinnati Plan. By gathering downtown, we’re inviting every neighborhood to experience Cincinnati’s climate leadership firsthand – to connect with solutions, understand the opportunities, and take action together. This is where vision becomes reality. We appreciate the financial support from the host the City of Cincinnati, and co-hosting publicity support by Green Umbrella.

Bring your reusable water bottles, we have filling stations on site! And bring your reusable bowl and silverware to use at the food trucks.
