Great Parks is offering several opportunities for guests and those important to them to show their big love amidst the big lands, during the week of Valentine’s Day. These events bring the chance to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the parks with the people we love!
Be My Great Parks Valentine
Sunset Over the Ohio River
Woodland Mound, with its world-class overlook above the Ohio River, will be the spot for couples to watch the sunset together on Valentine’s Day, from 5:30-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Great Parks will host a bonfire beneath the wide-open skies of this East Side gem. Interpreters and animal visitors will be on hand, and guests will listen to the wild outdoor sounds of dusk as the sun settles beneath the horizon.
This event is free, but registration is recommended online here.
Maple in the Moonlight
Timed to coordinate with a weekend of maple syrup fun at Farbach-Werner Preserve, this event will make a perfect Great Parks Valentine date night. Guests will have the chance to enjoy the park after dark, in the midst of its annual late-winter maple sugar harvest.
Guests can unwind around the bonfire, hike the winding trails at Farbach-Werner, and learn about the temperature changes above and below freezing that make this the perfect time to harvest maple sap. It’s all topped off with maple tastings and the sounds of local music in the air.
Maple in the Moonlight is for adults only, from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, at the Ellenwood Nature Barn in Farbach-Werner Preserve. Cost is $12/person, with registration available here.
Winter Night Hike
A perfect evening couples night opportunity, the Great Parks Winter Night Hike shows off the wintry wonderland of Sharon Woods in its evening splendor. The event is free, starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Sharon Centre in Sharon Woods.
