There’s still plenty of adventure and relaxation to be found at Ohio State Parks as the summer comes to a close. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft has organized more than 200 events at the parks for the Labor Day Weekend.

Friends and families can gather to experience a variety of fun activities. You can learn stand-up paddle boarding at Caesar Creek, Cowan Lake, and Hueston Woods. Explore the wriggly world of reptiles at Burr Oak, Deer Creek, Mohican, and Maumee Bay. Or take a shot at archery with classes at 16 different state parks.
Hueston Woods State Park
• Friday, Sept. 1, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Morning Hike. Meet at the Nature Center for a stroll through the woods with a Naturalist.
• Friday, Sept. 1, 2-3 p.m. Fossil Expedition. Meet at the Nature Center to search for signs of prehistoric life and collect fossils.
• Friday, Sept. 1, 4-5 p.m. SUP Excursion. Learn stand-up paddle boarding basics and take a guided trip on Acton Lake. Space is limited; sign-up in advance at the Nature Center beginning at 9 a.m.
• Friday, Sept. 1, 6-7 p.m. Pontoon Trip. A tour of Acton Lake led by a Naturalist. Meet at the Nature Center.
• Friday, Sept. 1, 9-9:30 p.m. Campfire & Questions. Ask the Naturalist questions and learn about the park prior to the Night Hike.
• Friday, Sept. 1, 9:30-10:30 p.m. Night Hike. Leave your flashlight behind as you hike by moonlight on the Indian Mound Trail in the Campground.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 11 a.m.-noon Wildlife Invasion! Meet at the Lodge for a closer look at Ohio’s wildlife.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, noon-1 p.m. Kayak Excursion. Learn kayaking basics and take a guided trip on Acton Lake. Space is limited; sign-up in advance at the Nature Center beginning at 9 a.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 1-2 p.m. Afternoon Hike. Meet at the Nature Center for a stroll through the woods with a Naturalist. Bring your vehicle; participants will drive to the trailhead.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 2-3 p.m. Canoe Excursion. Learn canoeing basics and take a guided trip on Acton Lake. Space is limited; sign-up in advance at the Nature Center beginning at 9 a.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 3-4 p.m. Creekin’. What creatures can be found in the park’s creeks? Meet at the Nature Center to find out.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 4-5 p.m. Raptors of Ohio. Get a closer look at some of the resident birds of prey. Meet at the Nature Center.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 5-6 p.m. Orienteering. Meet at the Nature Center.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 6-7 p.m. Cast Netting. Learn how to throw a cast net to catch fish. Meet at the Nature Center.
• Saturday, Sept. 2, 7-8 p.m. Reptile Show. Learn about Ohio’s native, scaly residents and see some up close. Meet at the Nature Center.
• Sunday, Sept. 3, 11 a.m.-noon Archery. Meet at the Archery Range.
• Sunday, Sept. 3, 2-3 p.m. Fossil Expedition. Meet at the Nature Center.
