Cincinnati & Dayton Oktoberfest Guide 2026

German Heritage, One Festival at a Time

Southwest Ohio’s German roots go back to the 1800s, and the region still marks that heritage with a long run of festivals stretching from June through October. Some are century-old traditions run by German-American clubs. Others are newer events hosted by local breweries riding the Oktoberfest wave. Together they give Cincinnati and Dayton-area families a half-dozen chances to hear polka music, eat spätzle and bratwurst, and let kids run around a biergarten before bedtime.

Below is a rundown of the major German fests happening in and around Southwest Ohio in 2026, in order by date. Hours, admission and vendor lineups can shift close to the date, so the official links are worth a check before heading out.

Good to Know

Most of these festivals are held rain or shine, with no refunds for weather. The larger ones — Oktoberfest Zinzinnati and Covington Oktoberfest — are free to enter, which makes them the easiest option for families testing the waters before committing to a ticketed event like Dayton’s. For the club-run festivals like Schützenfest and Germania, arriving earlier in the day tends to mean shorter food lines and a calmer Kinderplatz for younger kids before the evening crowds arrive.

Families looking for more budget-friendly options around the region can check our guide to cheap things to do in Cincinnati, and our roundup of splash pads in Cincinnati for when the weather is still warm enough for one last outdoor outing before fall festival season takes over.
