The Science Interactives Gallery at CMC is open!

Just in time for winter break… the Science Interactives Gallery at CMC is open!

Part physics playscape and part science class, the CMC’s newest exhibit is super-charged, STEM-powered fun. Kids control everything in the gallery, from rising rain clouds to larger-than-life levers to people-powered pulleys. The Science Interactives Gallery is an empowering experience for everyone.

Located just around the corner from the brand-new Dinosaur Hall, your kids will apply the laws of physics in the Science Interactive Gallery’s various hands-on activities. My almost-eight-year-old absolutely loved the new gallery, eagerly engaging with each activity. Old enough to read each of the activity descriptions, Julian was the perfect age to fully enjoy everything the Science Interactive Gallery had to offer.

Big hits included the pulley chair, which allowed kids to raise themselves high into the air (don’t worry – there are seat belts!).

And the gear and ball play wall was a big-kid version of the ball play area in the Duke Energy Children’s Museum.

Our favorite activity, however, was the Cloud Ring — it literally creates clouds that rise to the ceiling!

As a parent of four kids, it’s hard to find places to go that include everyone. But the CMC really has something for everyone. Between the Dinosaur Hall and the Science Interactives Gallery, the CMC has given families with older kids a place for them, too. The Science Interactives Gallery epitomizes what the CMC does best: making learning accessible, inviting and, most importantly, fun.

The Science Interactives Gallery is open daily during museum hours. It’s free for members and included with CMC admission.
