Sometimes a road trip is worth it just for the splash pad at the end. Ohio has a handful of them that are genuinely worth the drive — bigger, more interesting, or set inside a park good enough to fill a whole afternoon. Here are seven worth putting on your summer list.

1. Crocker Park Splash Pad – Westlake, OH
Address: 229 Crocker Park Blvd, Westlake, OH 44145
The splash pad at Crocker Park sits in West Park near Crêpes in the City and runs Memorial Day weekend through Sept. 6. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The location inside a large outdoor shopping center means you can pair it with lunch or a quick shopping stop, which makes it easier to sell as a full-day outing.

2. Spray and Play at Veterans Park – Delaware, OH
Address: 1121 S Houk Rd, Delaware, OH 43015
The dinosaur theme here goes well beyond decoration — there’s a slide out of a skull, fossil-hunting along the sidewalks, and playground equipment sized for kids who want a real workout. The splash pad runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, and admission is free. Shelter houses, restrooms and a concession stand are on site. It’s a legitimate full-afternoon stop.

3. Village Green Park Splash Pad – Powell, OH
Address: 47 Hall St, Powell, OH 43065
Located in the center of downtown Powell, this splash pad runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The surrounding Village Green hosts regular events and concerts, and the playground is well worth the stop. Downtown Powell is walkable from the park, so it’s easy to tack on lunch or ice cream.
4. Seneca Lake Park Splash Pad – Senecaville, OH
Address: 22172 Park Rd, Senecaville, OH 43780
This one sits right next to Seneca Lake Beach and earns the road trip on its own — water slides, multiple fountains, a treehouse, picnic-themed water stations and covered seating. It runs Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $5 for a day pass; season passes are available. The park also has camping, trails and boat rentals if you want to make a weekend of it. Note that a $10 per vehicle gate fee applies to enter the park ($15 on fireworks dates).

5. Splash Pad Park – Mansfield, OH
Address: 750 Scholl Rd, Mansfield, OH 44907
Run by the Mansfield Area YMCA, this fully inclusive splash pad has a dumping bucket, gentle jets, misting features, and a submarine and VW van with water, lights and sound effects. 6. Gahanna Swimming Pool Splash Pad – Gahanna, OH
Address: 148 Parkland Dr, Gahanna, OH 43230
Over 3,100 square feet, 41 spray features, and free admission from 8 a.m. to noon daily — this is one of the better free splash pad setups in central Ohio. After noon, it’s available to pool members and day pass holders through 8 p.m. Opens May 1 each season.
7. Broadview Heights Splash Park – Broadview Heights, OH
Address: 9543 Broadview Rd, Broadview Heights, OH 44147
About 3,000 square feet, free admission, shaded seating, restrooms, a concession stand and a playground next door. It opens Memorial Day and runs through Labor Day. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends (6 p.m. closing on weekdays once school resumes in August). The park closes when temps are forecast below 70 degrees, so check before you drive.
