The Old West Festival in Partnership with FrontierFriends

The Old West Festival is celebrating its 11th year with a “BANG” during its opening Family Weekend September 8 and 9.

This year’s event will include a newarena show featuring Mickey Gaines as legendary Bass Reeves. Born to slave parentsin 1838 in Crawford County, Arkansas, Reeves was the first black U.S. Deputy Marshalwest of the Mississippi River, and one of the greatest frontier heroes in our nation’shistory. This show will be part history lesson, part crowd interaction and a whole lot offancy and fast riding for the whole family to enjoy.

The Festival will also introduce a new Escape Room that will provide clues for players tocrack a safe, elude the Sheriff and pull off a heist or walk to the gallows! *The EscapeRoom ticket cost is $50 for one group of 2-8 people, and sold separately from generaladmission tickets.

Also new, 2018 marks the first year that the festival will be operated by Frontier Friends,a non-profit that has set a goal to raise funds this year that will be allocated in 2019 forvarious charity events and activities at the 2019 festival and all following festivals. Frontier Friends has already developed valued partnerships with Cincinnati Children’sHospital Medical Center, A Kid Again, Hope Emergency and Dragon Fly, to name a few.
