Family Flying Squirrel Watch

Intended Audience: This program is designed for adults and children ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Program Description: Flying squirrels are usually hidden in the forest, but they are more active at dusk. After a brief indoor orientation, we’ll head out to our flying squirrel viewing area to learn how to spot these seldom-seen forest residents as they glide in for their evening meal.

What to Expect: We’ll meet in Groesbeck Lodge for a brief intro then head out to our flying squirrel viewing area.

This program is mostly outdoors.
Restrooms are available only at the start and end of the program, as we will be out on the trails during the program.
Trails/areas used during this program are rated as moderate (some elevation changes, off-trail, trails may be uneven or could be slippery when wet) for a planned distance of .025–.05 mile at a slow pace.
Program runs rain or shine.
What to Bring: Bring a flashlight to help you navigate the trail and spot flying squirrels.

What to Wear: Please dress in layers to ensure proper warmth and comfort.
