Event Details
Held in October and November (Harvest Feast) and March (End of Winter Feast), the Tavern Dinner series features an authentic, three-course, hearth-cooked meal and historical entertainment in the 1796 Newcom Tavern — Dayton’s oldest surviving building. Over the years, Newcom Tavern also served as the city’s first jail, church, general store, and Montgomery County’s first courthouse.
Featuring recipes drawn from 19th-century receipt books, the dinners immerse guests in how early Daytonians dined and celebrated. Costumed interpreters bring the 1800s to life during this unforgettable candlelit evening.
