Fitton Family Fridays

Looking for a place to enjoy the arts with your family? Welcome to the Fitton Center of Creative Arts in Hamilton, Ohio! The entire complex is dedicated to the arts in all disciplines for all ages and abilities. This non-profit organization is celebrating their 24th year in the community, and is happy to present Fitton Family Fridays in their newly refurbished 239-seat theatre.

Fitton Family Fridays are live theatre performances specifically for families and children of all ages. Enjoy everything from plays by children’s theater groups to ballet and opera companies, as well as interactive concerts and national comedy acts. A free reception of kid-friendly drinks and appetizers is served in the Carruthers Signature Ballroom prior to each show starting at 6:30 p.m.

The most recent Fitton Family Friday brought the TCT On Tour (The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati) of Dr. Suess’s The Cat in the Hat. After enjoying wonderful refreshments and special Cat in the Hat themed appetizers, my family was ready to see another amazing Children’s Theatre production. And as always, The Cat in the Hat did not disappoint. The entire audience was thrilled by the live interactive performance as the most mischievous cat turns a rainy afternoon into an adventure of tricks and crazy ideas. The most precious sound is children’s laughter, and The Cat in the Hat brought plenty of belly laughs and smiles. When the play was over, the actor/actresses had a town hall question and answer session, plus photo opportunities with the Cat himself.

On October 6th at 7:30 p.m., enjoy the next Fitton Family Friday – The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by the Lexington Children’s Theatre. In a drowsy, dreary hollow where time stands still, new schoolmaster Ichabod Crane is losing his head over the lovely Katrina. Unfortunately, local brute Brom Bones is vying for her affections as well. But as night draws in and the stars sink deeper into the sky, Ichabod realizes there may be even worse things in Sleepy Hollow lurking just over the bridge. With Halloween quickly approaching, it’s time to get spooked out of your seat with this timeless and haunting tale, live on stage! (Please note: as of Sept. 29, this show was sold out, but you’ll want to call and check on tickets as the Fitton Center has a waiting list for returned tickets.)

Looking ahead, the 2017-18 season features lots of fun for families: the RokOKCincy Opera’s Trip Jones and the Case of the Missing Music (Nov. 10); The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s Celebrate the Season concert (Dec. 1); the Cincinnati Ballet’s Carnival of the Animals (Feb. 16) and the Lexington Children’s Theatre’s Why Mosquitos Buzz (April 20). As shows tend to sell out, you’ll want to purchase tickets early to ensure seats to these family-friendly performances!

Fridays are for families! For more information and a list of upcoming Fitton Family Fridays or to purchase tickets, please visit Tickets are $5 members/$7 non-members (all ages), and all Fitton Center guests can enjoy FREE parking.
