Fall Fest Weekend at Washington Park
When: Dates have not been announced yet. Washington Park typically holds Fall Fest Weekend the last weekend of October, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Celebrate fall in the heart of Over-the-Rhine. Families can enjoy a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, animal encounters, live music, crafts, and vendors, all with free admission in one of Cincinnati’s favorite parks.

The Great Pumpkin Fest at Keehner Park
When: October 3, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This not-so-scary event is a family classic. Explore the hay bale maze, petting zoo, puppet show, costume parade, and games. Kids can trick-or-treat through the park, so don’t forget bags.
Ohio Sauerkraut Festival
When: October 10-11, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday
Drawing around 450 vendors, this legendary event combines small-town charm with big festival energy. Expect live entertainment, crafts, and plenty of sauerkraut-themed food, all with free entry and parking in downtown Waynesville.
Greenhills Harvest Fest
When: October 24, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This one’s an easy add if you haven’t been: the Village of Greenhills hosts an evening of food, live music, booths, games, and pumpkins on the Commons. Admission is free, with items for sale from vendors.
Dayton / Greater Dayton Area
Spring Valley Potato Festival
When: October 3-4
A local favorite celebrating all things potato. From soups and candy to crafts, games, and live music, this unique event is quirky, fun, and free.
Heritage of Flight Festival
When: October 2-4
Pay tribute to New Carlisle’s aviation roots with vintage aircraft, a classic car cruise-in, parades, music, and community fun. Admission is free, with a carnival atmosphere on Main Street.
Harvest on Main (Xenia Fall Festival)

Downtown Xenia comes alive with pumpkin painting, a straw maze, a craft show, an antique tractor cruise-in, and live music, held alongside Xenia’s Oktoberfest. Free to attend.
Enon Apple Butter Festival

Step back in time with homemade apple butter cooked in copper kettles, craft vendors, and family activities. Admission and parking are free.
Yellow Springs Street Fair
When: October 10, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A huge one-day celebration with more than 200 vendors, live music, food trucks, and the Beats+Brews & More Fest. Families love the eclectic, welcoming vibe. Note: this is a pet-free festival by village ordinance.
Vandalia Fall Festival
When: October 10, starting at noon
Another one worth adding to the list: the Vandalia Recreation Center hosts live music, food trucks, a pumpkin patch, a corn pit, inflatables, and craft vendors. Free to attend.
Centerville Fall Fest at Stubbs Park
When: October 3, noon to 8 p.m.
Includes a Kids Zone with a corn maze, corn pits, inflatables, a petting zoo, and free pumpkins while supplies last, plus a vendor village with more than 100 local businesses. The perfect way to kick off October.
Bradford Pumpkin Show
When: October 13-17
One of the region’s longest-running small-town festivals, with daily parades, a midway, contests, and all things pumpkin in downtown Bradford. Admission and parking are free; ride wristbands are sold separately.
Hocus Pocus Family Fun Festival
When: October 11, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Celebrate spooky season in downtown Middletown with crafts, a Howl-o-ween dog costume contest, a magic show, and a free screening of Hocus Pocus at the Sorg Opera House.
Fairborn Halloween Festival
When: October 16-18
A third addition worth considering: more than 80 food and craft vendors, carnival rides, live music, and the Spooktacular Costume Contest & Parade fill downtown Fairborn for a three-day weekend. Admission is free; rides and food are separate.
