Glen Helen in Yellow Springs is Ohio’s largest most-visited private nature preserve and is connected on its southern edge to John Bryan State Park. A highlight of visiting Glen Helen is a stop at the Raptor Center.
What to Expect
The Raptor Center features over 20 native raptors and birds that can be viewed in outdoor enclosures. It’s an opportunity to see up close the birds that occupy our skies. On Saturdays and Sundays, the indoor classroom offers a more interactive experience.
Who You’ll Meet
The Raptor Center’s Meet the Birds web tab provides short introductions and pictures of its current raptor ambassadors. The ambassadors are unable to live in the wild and live at the center year-round. It’s a great educational tool to use before or after a visit.
Saving Lives
The Center is also an important community resource, providing treatment and rehabilitation for orphaned, sick and injured raptors, admitting about 200 annually with a goal to release as many as possible back into the wild.
Programs & Support
Group programs are offered on and offsite. Funding for the Center is provided through visitor donations, bird sponsorships and program fees. The Raptor Center also keeps an up-to-date wish list on its site including Amazon and Chewy links.
