The British Transportation Museum (BTM) is just the right cup of tea for local anglophiles and car lovers alike of any age. This educational museum focuses on the history of British-built vehicles that have been used in the United States. It’s an interesting twist that helps visitors learn and understand how British vehicles have influenced American life.
The collection not only includes vehicles, but also their parts, pictures, memorabilia, books and anything else that illustrates British modes of transportation. If you’re a Dr. Who fan, you’ll also appreciate the blue Police Public Call Box that’s on display. Think TARDIS!
The BTM is a non-profit charity that’s staffed by volunteers and is part of the Society for the Preservation of British Transportation in America, Inc. Admission is by donation and is greatly appreciated.
The museum offers classes, automotive events and activities for all ages. It’s a great resource for school projects! There are over 40 cars and 15 bicycles on display. If you’re an enthusiast, the BTM does have spare and extra parts available for sale. Pictures of what’s available are on the BTM website under “For Sale Cars/Parts.”
The BTM has monthly member meetings. Dates and times can be found on the website and out-of-town members can join via Zoom.
