At speeds up to 160 mph, the Rumble in the Hills hydroplane powerboat races will excite children and adults alike! As part of a 3 day Sassafras Music Festival, Rumble in the Hills will also have a Kids Zone, live music, vendors, food trucks and a Saturday night fireworks show.
Rumble in the Hills Hydroplane Races take place on July 29-30th, 2023 at Rocky Fork Lake.
Rocky Fork State Park
Located at Rocky Fork Lake in Hillsboro, Rumble in the Hills hydroplane powerboat races can be seen from both sides of the lake with the East Shore as the focal point. Rocky Fork State Park is known for its family-friendly campground, swimming beach, great bass fishing and beautiful wildlife life like eagles, often found by the dam. First launch from the East Shore begins at 9am on Saturday with racing until 6p.
Rumble in the Hills Hydroplane Powerboat
With all day racing on Saturday and Sunday, the hydroplane powerboats are sure to put on a good show. At the East End Overlook on Lucas Lane, a kids zone and flea market will be set up if families need a break from the races. Saturday’s activities will conclude at dark with a fireworks show viewable from both sides of the lake. On Sunday, Joey’s Classic Car Show will feature dozens of classic cars during the races and music festival.
Sassafras Music Festival
Beginning Friday, July 28th, The Sassafras Music Festival is held in conjunction with Rumble in the Hills. At the East End Overlook on Lucas Lane, many bands will be performing through the entire weekend. Friday’s line up has Sick Serenity kicking it all off. Other bands taking the stage this weekend will be Shane Dylan, Steven Dowd, Timberlane Express and more.
