If you’re from Cincinnati, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with Gary Burbank and his show on 700 WLW, where he liked to ask, “Hey, how’s your Mom ‘n ’em?” That phrase gave its name to Mom ‘n ’em Coffee & Wine, now marking seven years in the community with a flagship location in Camp Washington and a second location in Madisonville. Both are open every day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Sundays from May through October, the Mom ‘n ’em Coffee Cart also sets up at the Summer Farmer’s Market in Hyde Park Square from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Food & Wine magazine has rated Mom ‘n ’em the third best coffee shop in America and the number one coffee shop in Ohio. The Camp Washington location now roasts its own coffee on site and cans its popular Franklin’s Coconut Cold Brew for retail.
Coffee, Food and a Growing Wine List
Mom ‘n ’em has an extensive menu for those dining in. Coffee options run from espresso and macchiato to cappuccino and latte, including flavored lattes like honey, vanilla and maple ube. Teas, including chai, are available, along with a babyccino of steamed milk for kids. Since opening, Mom ‘n ’em has added a full wine and cocktail program, with house cocktails, amaros and a rotating wine list alongside the coffee menu.
Food options include standouts like the Dirty ‘Nati egg sandwich, a house-made almond butter and banana toastie, avocado toastie, cinnamon sugar toastie and overnight oats with granola.
Pantry Items to Take Home
Mom ‘n ’em sells bagged coffee, both ground and whole bean, in several house blends, along with house-made pantry items including sherry brown butter, almond butter, garlic aioli and granola.
