Newport Aquarium is bringing some new fun to winter in Cincy with new animals, new Annual Memberships and an All-New Underwater Scavenger Hunt Around the World presented by Skyline Chili.
Starting January 19, visitors are invited on an indoor Underwater Scavenger Hunt adventure where they can escape the cold and meet some new animal friends, while learning more about those they may have overlooked before.
Among the new animals are the mesmerizing weedy sea dragons and a rare albino catfish born at the aquarium. While finding the animals, visitors will also search the exhibits for the Scavenger Hunt’s hidden globes, with each carrying a letter. All together they reveal a secret phrase that can be used to enter for a chance to win four Newport Aquarium Gold Annual Memberships, along with a $100 Skyline Chili Gift Card!
The new weedy sea dragons recently went on display in the Seahorses: Unbridled Fun gallery. These beautiful creatures get their name from their plant-like appearance and graceful movements. Weedy sea dragons are striking upon first glance with their leafy look, and are known for their elaborate dance during courtship. Another new animal to be found during the Underwater Scavenger Hunt is the rare albino channel catfish, that was interestingly born at the aquarium to parents not presenting this trait. The catfish was coincidentally born alongside the aquarium’s two white American alligators, Snowball and Snowflake, in Gator Alley.
