Three words: fenced in playground. There’s so much more to be said about the awesome playground at Pine Hill Lakes Park in Mason but a fenced in playground reigns supreme! This 82 acre park is home to two gorgeous lakes surrounded by paved walking trails, restrooms, arboretum, butterfly meadow, gorgeous scenery and playground.
Pine Hill Lakes Park is located at 211 Kings Mills Road in Mason, open dawn to dusk.
Pine Hill Lakes Playground
The playground space is huge and fenced in, a win-win for parents and kids! The handicap accessible playground has a combination of turf and grass; the playground equipment itself is on turf so children can run and play without any barriers. Surrounding the climbers is a nice paved walking trail to push the stroller or for bikes and scooters. Parents will enjoy the green space lined with picnic tables, benches and a pavilion under the shade trees.
Designed for kids who love to climb up, down, and all around, the playground has a huge rope dome unlike other parks. Inside the dome are tiered levels of climbing with different bridges and ladders. The smaller space, designed for younger children age 2-5 has an adorable caterpillar theme with lots of slides.
Tall music makers, standing spinners, sitting spinner chair, merry-go-round, swings and a huge climber fill the rest of the space at Pine Hill Lakes Park. Older kids will have a blast on the huge multi-level climber with climbing ropes and speedy fast slides galore.
Steps away from the playground are newer restrooms and a large shaded pavilion outside the fence. A perfect spot on your way in or out for snack time or a picnic with friends. Before you leave, grab a book from the Little Library to enjoy at home (don’t forget to bring one or two back!).
Two Fishing Ponds
The ponds at Pine Hill Lakes Park are stocked a few times a year with rainbow trout and catfish. Kids 10 years and older must have a current City of Mason fishing pass. In March and October, the lake is stocked with rainbow trout. From April through August, the lake is stocked with channel catfish. 16 and up are required to also have a valid Ohio fishing license.
Walking Trails
Pine Hill Lakes Park has a 2.7 mile paved loop around the entire park and adjacent Corwin M. Nixon Park. The trail’s backdrop among the trees make this a very peaceful, easy walk with kids in tow.
