Nostalgia at the American Sign Museum

Outside may be rainy and gloomy but inside is popping with bright colored bulbs and animatronic signs.

The American Sign Museum, tucked away in Camp Washington, is highly underrated and extremely affordable!

Beat the rainy week ahead with a trip to the museum where the perfect photo op awaits! Around every corner is a new opportunity to dive into the past history of American signage. 20,000 square feet displays a century of pre-electric signs to Art Deco neon; the museum covers it all.

Admission prices are low, but better yet, become a member! A yearly family membership allows you in any day for the low, low price of $50. Your support continues to bring in new signs, provide materials for field trips and educate and inspire the public.

The mission at the American Sign Museum is to celebrate the history of American signage through preservation and education. Guided tours are available virtually only, until restrictions are lifted to allow daily, in person guided tours again. Are you part of a homeschool Co-Op by chance? Groups of 10 or more can request a private tour on a case by case basis.

Limited mobility is no concern at the American Sign Museum! Guests will experience an easily navigated single floor collection. Guests may bring their own wheelchair or mobilized cart. Those with sensitivities to blinking and flashing should use discretion.

No age is too young or too old to enjoy the art of American signage. The walk through thousands of historic, brightly colored bulbs provides a stimulating sensory experience, especially for the little ones! Watch in amazement as you explore rotating signs much, much larger than yourself. You can even get a glimpse of a few Cincinnati specific treasures.

It’s important to note that advanced timed entry is required with dates available as early as today. Give yourself around an hour to explore and don’t forget your camera! Parking is free in the lot and the gift shop is open daily. Perusing the shop is always a favorite of mine when thinking ahead for birthday/Christmas gifts!
