Each year, parents spend tremendous amounts of time and money on activities ranging from violin to soccer. They teach discipline, teamwork, focus and physical fitness, but none of these activities can save lives. However, water survival skills can.
At British Swim School, the mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer. Safety is first … and foremost.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 10 people die each day from unintentional drowning in the United States.
Drownings:
- are silent
- can happen in less than 20 seconds
- are the No. 1 cause of death for children 4 years of age and under
- often happen in the presence of one or both parents
- can happen when children are out of sight for five minutes or less
Since 1981, British Swim School has been dedicated to preventing these terrible outcomes by using a fun and gentle method focused on developing the individual swimmer’s skills. Private or small group classes are available for children as young as 3 months old all the way up to adults, and are open to any level of skill or ability. Everyone is welcome.
As one parent said at the start of their son’s swim lessons: “It’s not an activity — it’s a life skill.”
