Little Foodies: Sharonville Root Beer Stand

The first signs of fall means the annual closing of Sharonville’s famous Root Beer Stand. Operating from March to September, the iconic orange carport drive-in sits on the train tracks in the heart of Sharonville.

The Root Beer Stand officially opens for the 2023 season on March 4th at 11a!

The enticing history of Sharonville’s Root Beer Stand is met with a delicious menu of footlong chili cheese hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza steak, the Timmy Dog topped with chili, cheese, kraut, hot sauce, slaw, relish, onion, ketchup and the forever famous root beer.

By the glass, in a gallon or mixed with ice cream for a perfect float, the root beer at the stand is known for its distinctive taste. The 280-foot water well, which dates back to 1957, gives a delicious, creamy flavor that sets apart the Root Beer Stand’s soda from the rest.

Drive into nostalgia with the kiddos, as little has changed since the original owners, The Rideours, boasted a seasonal summertime restaurant. Holding true to early values, the Root Beer Stand prides itself on hiring first time job-seeking teenagers through the summer. As time went on, carhops were moved behind the counter, where you’ll find the smiling faces of our young entrepreneurs today.

Behind the iconic orange building, there’s ample space to meet friends for a quick treat. The little ones find joy running around the quaint playset as trains safely bustle by. The train system caught the eye of the Rideours, who loved the small train town of Sharonville. Before highways crossed the country, the stand was positioned on the main road between Michigan and Florida. Many, many children and families took delight in stopping for a glass of fresh Root Beer.

The menu stays true to original recipes, including their delicious take on Cincinnati chili. Spices, root beer making equipment and the best of the best ingredients all remain the same. The family-friendly tradition has stayed true through new ownership who passionately maintains a close knit family friendly restaurant experience.

Open daily from 11 am-8 pm, The Root Beer Stand offers walk-up orders and call ahead contact-free carport pick up. Offering “heat and eat family packs,” the stand has made it easy for busy parents. With 6” and 12” options, take home boxes are prepared and packaged separately to cook at home. Six hot dogs, buns, chili, cheese and onion included. Don’t forget to add on a gallon of creamy, made-fresh root beer!

Whether you’re in the mood for sweet treats like ice cream cookies or a hearty coney dog, pizza steak burger and root beer, the iconic Sharonville Root Beer Stand is calling your family’s name.
