Silverlake The Family Place is Gold!

Over the past couple of years, I have made our family’s health a top priority. I always knew I wanted to encourage our kids to be active and to have the opportunity to try a variety of sports and learn the meaning of sportsmanship. Of course it’s okay if they end up not liking team sports, but that’s where the words “try” and “variety” come in!

Living in Northern Kentucky, there was one obvious choice for our family to pursue our goals – Silverlake, “The Family Place.” We are lucky enough to live just a few minutes away from its Erlanger location (they also have a gym, Better Bodies, in Ft. Mitchell) and we spend quite a bit of time there. While membership gives you access to all Silverlake has to offer, there are plenty of activities for anyone looking to be more active!

As “The Family Place,” Silverlake earns its title. From the beginning, the family – focused atmosphere was very apparent and we’ve always felt welcomed and appreciated. Silverlake offers a wide variety of sports for members and non-members including swimming (they have an Olympic-size pool!), soccer, basketball, gymnastics, Taekwondo, sports development and camps! They also offer a highly rated preschool, before and after school care and homeschool P.E.

As a member, you have full access to the outdoor waterpark (it’s awesome!), the indoor pool and waterpark, fitness room, a variety of classes, gym and possibly my favorite feature — Kids Club! I was SO nervous the first time I took my little babies to the childcare, but the ladies have been loving on my kids ever since. It is such a relief to know they are having fun and being well taken care of while I work on my own personal health. They have two separate areas – one for 8 weeks to 9 years and one for 3 years (potty trained) to 11 years. The kids have made friends and truly look forward to visiting. It didn’t start that way, but the patience and kindness of the staff truly made a difference!

It’s important to me for my kids to have places where they feel comfortable, safe and loved beyond our own home. Their school is one of these places and the other is Silverlake. And as great as it’s been for them, it’s been even better for me. My life has completely changed, thanks to the staff, trainers and teachers and their direction, encouragement and dedication. I highly recommend Silverlake to the families of Northern Kentucky, whether it’s membership or participating in one of the many activities. It’s a great family place to be active, learn and make memories!

A native Cincinnatian, Andrea has experienced life in all four corners of this city. After growing up on the west side, she headed north to attend Miami University, then moved east to Hyde Park and now lives in Northern Kentucky with her family.

When she’s not playing trains and doing the “hot dog dance” as a stay-at-home mom to her two toddlers, Andrea is busy writing for Cincinnati publications and sites. With a newfound passion for fitness and overall health, she spends a lot of time at her family gym and loves to play outside.

Andrea worked in education for several years and has a special love for children’s literature. She loves showing her children all our city has to offer and enjoys sharing her finds with other parents. Her favorite spots include the Cincinnati Zoo (although she steers clear of the bird house), her local library and any playground.
