Summer Camps for the Arts

Do you have a creative kid at home? Summer is the perfect time to promote their passion with a camp designed just for them. From the budding artist to the musician and the dancer to the thespian, we’ve rounded up a list of local camp opportunities you’ll want to be sure to explore.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park

Playhouse offers full day camps now located at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Middletown Arts Center and Run Jump-n-Play Mason. Day camps provide lessons in acting, improv and scenic design, while the three-week performance academy camp teaches students about the full production of plays. 

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company

Located in the Gallagher Student Center Theatre at Xavier University, Shakespeare Camp is a great way for campers to learn and advance their theatrical studies. Divided into three camps based on grade level, each camp works on a different Shakespearian play. Auditions are required. 

Clifton Performance Theatre

Campers will get an authentic theatre experience at Clifton Performance Theatre Summer Camp. Here, students work to perform classic musicals for their friends, family and the Clifton community. Camp runs from June through August, offering eight weekly sessions, each with a different musical performance.

Campers hoping to diversify their artistic skills can find a fun selection of weekly camps at ArtsConnect located in the Springfield Township Senior Center. Weekly sessions focus on different topics such as architecture, the sole design of a shoe and even authors and illustrators.  


Cincinnati Art Museum

Designed for children ages 6-12, the Cincinnati Art Museum presents eight weeks of camp running from June through August. Campers will delve into creative art projects and games discovering a different theme each week, such as: “Welcome to the Jungle” or “Comic Creators.”

For the makers in your family, Creativities offers both beginner and more advanced sewing camps for kids ranging from 8 to 13. Other morning and afternoon camp opportunities are available as well. 

Kennedy Heights Art Center 


Located on Montgomery Road, the Kennedy Heights Art Center provides one-week camps that explore visual arts, video/digital media, and even theatre, music and dance.  Have a high schooler at home? Kennedy Heights is also looking for summer volunteers.

Taft Museum of Art

The Taft’s summer art day camps offer fun, intensive studios looking at, thinking about and creating art inspired by artwork on view at the Museum. Each weeklong session ends with an exhibition organized by students and staff for family and friends. 


Some kids just gotta dance! Keep your performer moving this summer with one of these Queen City dance camps. 

Cincinnati Ballet

Plié your way to the Cincinnati Ballet Dance Camps. Here, students can try different weekly sessions based on age and dance experience. Classes range from a Youth Summer Intensive Program to a Kids Dance Camp and a Pre Pointe Class as well.  


Mam Luft Co.

Located in the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, Mam Luft Co. Dance Camp offers a variety of dance techniques in their two weekly sessions in July. Campers will learn about modern dance and ballet techniques, while also providing a performance at the end of the week.  


SDA Studios

Ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary – they have it all at SDA. Summer classes, workshops and day camps are available. 


West Chester Academy

Cincinnati Boychoir

Located on the Xavier University campus, the Cincinnati Boychoir offers SongFest, a summer camp for boys entering grades 2-12. Students can engage in a truly well-rounded experience with music classes, choral rehearsals, piano and even a daily African drum circle. 

Cincinnati School of Music

The Cincinnati School of Music invites campers, ages 4 and older, to experience the fun of music firsthand. Camps include: Singing Camp, Music Discovery Camp, Drum/Percussion Camp, Island Jammin’ Ukulele Camp and Strings Camp.
