The holiday season is in full swing in the Queen City and amidst the hustle and bustle, we slowed down this past weekend to enjoy another outstanding performance by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati. The longest running children’s theatre in the entire country (how cool is that?!) brings A Charlie Brown Christmas to life as all of your favorite characters dance, sing and perform on stage.
The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s A Charlie Brown Christmas reminds us what Christmas is all about. Running now through Dec. 15, slow down and savor the season with The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati (TCT).
We’ve been lucky enough to see several TCT shows and this one was just as charming, engaging and memorable as the rest. My five-year-old loved the characters, antics, and jokes, and I got swept up in the nostalgia and meaningful reminders that this classic TV show is known for.
The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is celebrating its 100th season right now and the line up of shows is fun and impressive. When we heard A Charlie Brown Christmas would be returning, we knew we had to see it. If this is one of your favorite holiday traditions, you are in luck because there are still tickets left for upcoming performances! More on that below, but first let’s talk about what to expect when you take your young ones to a theatre that’s just for them.
One of my favorite things about The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati is that is provides an authentic theatre experience, from the Playbills to the talented Orchestra, and yet is so welcoming and accessible for children. Favorite stories, movies, and musicals come alive on stage thanks to talented artists who sing and dance in performances that are also memorable. On the TCT website, you can learn more about each show of the season, as well as which ages are best suited for them. A Charlie Brown Christmas is on stage now and still to come are Annie Jr. and Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical, as well as other performances at the Red Bank Road location and on tour.
TCT’s A Charlie Brown Christmas quite literally brings the characters from the TV screen to the stage. The costumes, quotes, hairstyles and even the way they walk and move are straight from the classic. And beyond that, the heart of the story is poured out through these actors as they share the true meaning of Christmas. You’ll want to give Charlie Brown a hug throughout and by the end you’ll be singing and dancing right along with them as they twirl around that famous little tree. And my daughter’s favorite characters, Snoopy and Woodstock, will have you laughing with their barks, squeaks, and tail-wagging antics.
A family outing to see A Charlie Brown Christmas is a wonderful way to spend time together this season. Tickets to upcoming performances, or even season tickets would make the perfect experience-based gift that will give back in so many ways. Our city is lucky to have this opportunity for our youngest Cincinnatians and we can’t wait to catch our next performance by The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati.
