The Tulip Trail at Blooms & Berries

Some dreams take time. For three years, Blooms & Berries dreamed of bringing tulips to the farm—but the timing was never quite right. When they finally set their sights on 2026 for a grand tulip debut, it seemed like patience would have to win out.

Then, something unexpected happened.

A Twist of Fate (and a Whole Lot of Hard Work)

Last fall, the farm made the tough call to skip their strawberry crop due to disease concerns. It was a heartbreaking decision, but it left them with an opportunity—a chance to plant something new. That’s when the tulip idea resurfaced.

Excited to move forward, the team began searching for bulbs—only to find out that a bad production year in Holland meant there were none to be found. It looked like the tulip dream would have to wait… again.

But then, in early February, fate stepped in. A friend in Maryland had 500,000 cold-treated tulip bulbs—but her frozen fields meant she couldn’t plant them. With only days to decide, Blooms & Berries took a huge leap of faith and purchased 250,000 bulbs, giving them until February 28th to get them in the ground before it was too late.

Planting Against the Clock (and the Weather)

What followed was one of the most intense planting pushes the farm has ever seen. Hail, snow, sleet, frozen mornings—Mother Nature wasn’t making it easy. But the Blooms & Berries team, along with family and friends, came together to make it happen.

They cleared the woods.
Laid 1,350 tons of sand.
Rebuilt gravel roads.
Improved drainage.
Planted 250,000 tulip bulbs—by hand!

Through sheer determination (and a whole lot of teamwork), they pulled it off. And now, those tulips—planted in challenge, resilience, and community spirit—are finally starting to sprout.

Introducing: The Tulip Trail

This spring, Blooms & Berries invites you to experience something truly special: The Tulip Trail—a half-mile walk through the woods, lined with vibrant tulips that stand for more than just beauty. They stand for perseverance.

Because of the unique timing of the bulbs, these tulips will bloom a little later than most. But when they do, it’s going to be absolutely worth the wait.
