Looking for a unique family night out? Located off of State Route 130 in Hamilton, Holiday Auto Theatre is one of Ohio’s last remaining drive-ins and a true hidden gem.
This Butler County drive-in theatre is a fun blast from the past, and recently opened for the season — with special COVID-19 precautions.
Holiday Auto Theatre is a classic drive-in movie theatre has been in operation for over 60 years, and features the latest movies for the best double-feature (or triple) value. As Ohio slowly reopens, this outdoor theatre provides a safe space to practice social distancing while enjoying a night out. So pull up the car, grab some tasty snacks and enjoy Hollywood’s latest from under the stars.
The theatre is open weekends, with a variety of double or triple features you can enjoy from inside your car — or pop the trunk with a few lawn chairs. (Note: please do not leave the car running.) And the family value is incredible: you can enjoy 2-3 movies for just $9.25/adult and $5.50/child 4-11 (children under 3 are FREE).
You may buy your tickets online or at the on-site box office opens at 7 pm. On weekends, we highly suggest arriving early for the show. Parking spots are first-come, first-served and there are no saving spaces. And while you’re waiting for the film to begin, turn your radio to 90.7FM to listen to the oldies (lots of classic songs from the Grease soundtrack) and eventually the movie dialogue.
The Holiday Auto Theatre has a fantastic snack bar with tons of classic movie treats. (Think super-buttery popcorn and boxes of Junior Mints.) Right now, due to increased COVID-19 restrictions, there are markers inside the concession area to maintain proper social distancing. However, if you want to bring in outside food, a food permit can be purchased for $5/car or group. With that, you will receive a $2 discount on a purchase of $10 or more at the snack bar. Also, you may not cook, grill or prepare food on the premises — and no alcoholic beverages are allowed at any time.
As Ohio slowly reopens, The Holiday Auto Theatre is such a safe and fun experience to share with your family, bringing a little of the past to present day.
