20 Free Things to do in Cincinnati this March

Dr. Seuss’s Birthday. Teen Tech Week. St. Patrick’s Day. Cincinnati Parent’s first-ever Summer Camp Fair. The start of spring. This is March! Thurs., March 2 from 4-5 p.m. at the Walnut Hills Branch
Celebrate Dr. Seuss with art projects and games inspired by his many famous books! FREE.

Spanish Play Group
Fri., March 3 at the Cincinnati Family Enrichment Center
Join us for story time, songs, and free play while using Spanish. Children and adults with any level of comfort in the language are welcome!

If Pets Had Thumbs Day!
Fri., March 3 from 11 a.m.-noon at Blue Manatee
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your pet had thumbs? One thing that sets humans apart from many other species on the planet is an opposable thumb. It allows us to do many things that other creatures can’t do. What kind of mischief would our pets get into if they could open doors, open containers, or turn on the tv? Join us today as we read a few of our favorite pet books and then we’ll create a “thumb-tastic” piece of artwork! Get ready to get your thumbs a bit messy! Best for ages 2-4; FREE.

Learning Through Play for Families
Saturdays in March at the Cincinnati Museum Center
Every Saturday in March, the Museum Center is hosting Learning Through Play for Families. Drop-in activities will be available for families to experience the joy and benefit of playing together in Duke Energy Children’s Museum on March 4, 11, 18 and 25. Activities are free for Museum Members or included with admission to Duke Energy Children’s Museum.

Welcome to Golf Orientation
Sat., March 4 from 1-3 p.m. at Winton Woods/Meadow Links & Golf Academy
Take a tour of the nationally recognized Meadow Links & Golf Academy and see all the features the facility has to offer. Learn about the variety of lesson programs, meet the friendly Meadow Links staff and find out how they can assist you with your golf game. Free.

Sat., March 4 from 2-3 p.m. at the Pleasant Ridge Branch Library
Join the Cat in the Hat for a fun birthday party for Dr. Seuss! Stories, Balloon Animals from Looney Ballooney, Red Fish/Blue Fish Fishing Game, Hop on Pop game, crafts, snacks, and get your picture taken as the Cat in the Hat!

PJ Library Madcap Puppets Party
Sun., March 5 at 3 p.m. at the JCC
We’ll enjoy a workshop led by the larger-than-life Madcap Puppets! Children of all abilities are invited to join us as we celebrate Jewish Disability Awareness at this fun PJ Library event. We’ll read a PJ Library book about the acceptance of all people, and make our own puppets, too!

An Afternoon with the Cincinnati Observatory
Mon., March 6 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Main Library
We’re celebrating Teen Tech Week with the Cincinnati Observatory. Learn how astronomers use technology to learn about space. This program is hands on and we will be outside if the weather permits.

Story Time at IKEA
Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in the Restaurant
Join us for story time in our Restaurant. Kids can enjoy classic tales of adventure and craft time after the story. Oh — and kids eat free every Tuesday at IKEA!

Maker Fair for Teens
Wed., March 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Sharonville Branch
Celebrate Teen Tech Week by trying out some fun makerspace equipment! Write your name on a ping-pong ball using our Egg Bot, create 3-D art with our 3-Doodler, design your own buttons, and more! Ages 12 to 18. Registration required.

Super Heroes of STEMville
Thurs., March 9 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Miami Township Branch Library
Help us celebrate Teen Tech Week by using your skills to solve the challenge and save the citizens of STEMville. Presented by the Cincinnati Museum Center. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Cincinnati Boychoir’s Concert Choir
Sun., March 12 at 2 p.m. at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center
The Cincinnati Boychoir is one of the premiere professional boychoirs in the United States. Located in the urban arts core of Cincinnati at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, the Boychoir reaches approximately 200 young men each year from more than 90 schools in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Show is free for kids 12 and under and just $5 per adult.

Elephant & Piggie Palooza
Mon., March 13 from 2-3 p.m. at the Green Township Branch
Celebrate your love of reading with Elephant and Piggie! Play Piggie and Elephant’s favorite games, eat slop, and maybe even have a bird on your head!

Baby Tour: Black and White
Fri., March 17 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Cincinnati Art Museum
This 30-minute experience introduces you and your infant (ages 0–2) to the world of art with a tour designed to stimulate their developing minds. Tours are free; reservations are required! March’s tour will investigate all shades of black and white. FREE.

Super Science Saturday at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery
March 18, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
It’s March Math-Ness at the Boonshoft Museum! Learn more about the universal language: math! Whether factoring probabilities, keeping score for the big game, or just balancing your bank account, math skills are key. Join us for a numbers-filled day of astronomy, hands-on science, live animal encounters, and even a math-centric look into our Collections vault. Admission is FREE for all and includes all programs and activities.

 

Third Sunday Funday: Blinged-Out Art
Sun., March 19 from 1-4 p.m. at the Taft Museum
Get ready for a glittering Funday! Create your own blinged-out accessory, see how a touch of gold or sparkle can glam up a painting, and learn about the materials artists use to create these beautiful works of art at the Art Cart. At 2 p.m., join OTRimprov for a hilarious performance of sketch comedy.

Cincinnati Parent Summer Camp Fair
Sun., March 19 from 1-4 p.m. at The Web Extreme Entertainment
Join us for our first Cincinnati Parent Summer Camp Fair as we bring in several area businesses/organizations under one roof that all offer some sort of summer program or camp. You can talk face to face and learn more details as to which might be the best fit for your family. Perhaps you are looking to expand the knowledge of your child’s interest or maybe just need help during summer hours to break up the daily doldrums and add some fun. We are here to help! Rhea Lana’s Spring 2017 Children’s Consignment Event

Bird of Prey Meet & Greet Open House
Sun., March 26 from 1-4 p.m. at RAPTOR, Inc.
Visit RAPTOR Inc. during our FREE OPEN HOUSE EVENTS on the last Sunday of each month (March-November) between 1pm and 4pm and help support local bird of prey conservation! Meet our LIVE! avian ambassadors up close, learn about the important role raptors play in our environment, touch interesting artifacts, speak to our knowledgeable staff and participate in fun activities.
