5 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Cincy

Valentine’s Day is a time to make those important people in your life feel loved, and who’s more important than your family?  While this day of romance typically focuses on couples, there are plenty of opportunities throughout our city to “share the love” with your kids as well.

I’ve rounded up 5 Ways to Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Cincy, so you can plan a special time out and about with your family:

Krohn Conservatory: Krohn Zone Explores Chocolate

February 11th 1-3pm

Have you visited Krohn’s current show, Blooms on the Bayou? February is the perfect time to escape to the “south” and enjoy this colorful display. And when you think of Valentine’s Day, who doesn’t think of chocolate? On Saturday, February 11th, Krohn Zone Explores Chocolate is included with the price of admission and will teach your family how chocolate is grown and some ways to prepare it. They will also have a display, a demonstration and opportunities to sample chocolates.

Brazee Street Studios: Story Time & Family Valentines

February 10th 1:30 – 2:15pm & February 11th 1:30 p.m.

If your family is feeling creative, check out one of the Valentine’s Day themed activities at Brazee Street Studios, a glass studio in Oakley.  On February 10th, they are hosting a special story time with the book, “The Day it Rained Hearts,” and children ages 3-6 can then make a heart shaped glass art piece.  The cost is $20/child and you can sign up online here.  Also on Saturday 2/11, they have a family-friendly event where your children, ages 5+, can make a glass-fused valentine!  The cost is $25/child and you can sign up here.

Dates & Times Vary
The public library is always a great place for free, festive fun to enjoy any holiday with your family. For Valentine’s Day, branches are offering a variety of activities, from themed story times, to valentine making, to heart-shaped soap creations! Visit the library’s event page here for all of the details! Color Me Mine: Kids Night Out: Valentine’s Fun

February 17th 6 – 8:30pm (First Grade & Up!)
Color Me Mine at Crestview Hills Town Center is providing some Valentine’s fun just for the kids!  On February 17th, parents can drop off their kids for an evening of fun!  Dinner is included, as well as a piece to paint, snacks, dessert and a craft. Space is limited, so visit their website here to sign up. Or, Color Me Mine is a great place to visit anytime as a family to create a Valentine’s Day gift or keepsake.

Contemporary Arts Center: Valentine’s Bash

February 9th 10:30 – 11:30am
The Contemporary Arts Center, always a family favorite, is hosting a Valentine’s Bash for its youngest guests. Families may create valentine’s necklaces, paint a canvas bag for someone they love and decorate heart-shaped cookies.  For more info, visit their website here.

We wish your family a Happy Valentine’s Day and hope you have a lovely time celebrating with each other – perhaps at one of these festive events around town!

A native Cincinnatian, Andrea has experienced life in all four corners of this city. After growing up on the west side, she headed north to attend Miami University, then moved east to Hyde Park and now lives in Northern Kentucky with her family.

When she’s not playing trains and doing the “hot dog dance” as a stay-at-home mom to her two toddlers, Andrea is busy writing for Cincinnati publications and brainstorming ideas for her next children’s book! With a newfound passion for fitness and overall health, she spends a lot of time at her family gym and loves to play outside.

Andrea worked in education for several years and has a special love for children’s literature. She loves showing her children all our city has to offer and enjoys sharing her finds with other parents. Her favorite spots include the Cincinnati Zoo (although she steers clear of the bird house), her local library and any playground.
