Halloween is simultaneously every parent’s favorite and least favorite holiday. If you were making a Pro/Con list, it would go something like this:
Pro: Cute costumes. Con: Expensive costumes.
Pro: Adorable photo opps. Con: Kids too excited to pose for pictures.
Pro: Fun way to be active as a family. Con: You have to carry a tired Superman and Batman several blocks.
Pro: Candy!! Con: Candy.
While we can’t help you snap a perfect family pic, we can help both you and your kids avoid a Skittles fueled sugar high (and crash). Lots of local businesses offer Candy Buyback programs, where parents can donate candy that is then shipped to soldiers overseas. In exchange, parents are given discounts, coupons and even cash! (Important note: It’s imperative that you call ahead. Many businesses set certain buy back rules, like a maximum amount of candy or specific drop-off hours.)
