The Cincinnati Zoo is already magical during the day—but when the sun sets and the gates close, the Zoo transforms into something even more extraordinary. From spooky lantern-lit safaris to family-friendly night hikes and even sleeping alongside elephants, these unique programs invite guests of all ages to experience the Zoo in a new way.
Haunted Safari: Spirits of the Zoo
When the lights go out and the Zoo falls silent, something begins to stir. The Haunted Safari: Spirits of the Zoo is an after-hours, lantern-guided walking tour designed for ages 16 and up. Guests will explore Jungle Trails, Africa, and hidden corners of the Zoo while listening to eerie tales of phantom footsteps, shadowy figures, and unexplained sounds.
With spine-tingling stories of haunted habitats and ghostly encounters—including the legend of a stalking lioness—this late-night adventure blends history with mystery. While the tour does not feature live animals, the atmosphere and storytelling will keep you on edge until the very end.
