Here at Cincinnati Parent, we’re busy parents just like you. We all wear multiple hats throughout the day, and are just trying to be the best parents, partners and people we can be. This year, we’re sharing a little glimpse into our lives with you. We all come from different backgrounds, have different careers, personalities and daily lives. So, if you ever wondered how we spend our day to day (more than just the short bio you see at the end of our posts), then you’re in luck:
Welcome to “A Day in My Life” Series
This year, each Cincinnati Parent Reporter will document a typical day in their lives. We’ll be sharing our favorite local haunts and products, too! You can learn a bit more about us, maybe incorporate something new into your day based on what you read, or simply take a moment to be thankful for your day to day life.
Ainslie, our in-house fashionista and baker extraordinaire, is kicking off the series:
Welcome to “A Day in My Life”! I am starting this series for Cincinnati Parent; and I hope to give you, the amazing and loyal readers, a view into my daily routine. You have already read my blogs on children’s entertainment, teenage and adult apparel/styling and Cincinnati happenings, but do you really know me? My bio gives you facts and accomplishments, but it’s not my personality, likes or activities. Here’s a look into a day in my life.

6:00 a.m.
Why is it that on school days my daughter (Miss G) has trouble waking? But on weekends, she wakes up with no problem and sometimes too early. I asked her to go back to bed or read quietly in her room; and I enjoyed some more sleep.
7:15 a.m.
Time to wake up! The entire family woke; and we each did our own separate morning routines. I spent 10 minutes doing my morning beauty routine (Teeth: brush/floss/mouthwash Hair: brush/messy bun Face: wash/toner/unblemish treatment/SPF moisturizer/eye cream…..my night time routine also includes a PM moisturizer and micro-exfoliating roller). Then I dressed in my typical uniform: yoga pants and cold-weather top.
7:35 a.m.
Every Saturday, we take a morning drive to run errands. We began with breakfast… Stan the Donut Man in West Chester (The Davy Crocketts are amazing). Then we drove through Starbucks for that all important caffeine fix to get through the day.
8:00 a.m.
More errands… We drove through Tide for my husband’s dry-cleaning pickup; and then grocery shopped at Kroger for weekly essentials.
9:30 a.m.
We arrived home and groceries were stored. Then I began making a St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake, while my husband continued his Flying Pig Marathon training (elliptical machine…5 degrees is too cold to run outside) and Miss G built her Lego set.
10:20 a.m.
The cake is done; I drove to Game On Fitness for my conditioning and toning (also marathon training). I worked out in the “Little Black Dress” toning class with Owner/Instructor Amy Smith. The class concentrated on core and leg work today… Spring Break will be here soon!
11:45 a.m.
I returned home to eat lunch; and finished the house cleaning started the day before. My husband cleaned the bathrooms — I am a lucky lady. Miss G was also very helpful dusting and organizing the “TOYnato” in the basement. But she still needed my help putting on the dreaded fitted sheet when making her bed.
1:00 p.m.
Miss G is a swimmer for the Mason Manta Rays. My husband took her to swim practice (my days are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays), while I prepped for an upcoming Modhousewife.com blog and our adult evening out.
2:30 p.m.
Swim practice ended; my family headed home while I drove to my appointment.
2:50 p.m.
I arrived at The Village Spa in West Chester. My stylist, Nicole Marsh, assisted me with my next Modhousewife.com blog topic, 2017 Hairstyle Trends. The two most popular trends are the “ponytail” and “braids”. Nicole is very creative; and she added both trends to my look. She also gave me instruction on how to create this style at home. Plus, which products and brushes are best for popular styles.
4:00 p.m.
Back at home, my husband and I finished getting ready for the evening; and packed up Miss G to enjoy an evening with one of her favorite teenagers, Miss C.
4:50 p.m.
Miss C and Miss G began their evening with dinner and a movie, while we and her parents (our very dear friends) left for a couple’s night out.
5:30 p.m.
The four of us ate dinner at Capital Grille in Rookwood. As always, the food and service were spectacular; and I highly recommend the Lobster Bisque and Filet topped with Jumbo Lump Crab. And the conversations are always unforgettable!
7:40 p.m.
The fun evening continued as we arrived at the Cincinnati PlayHouse in the Park for The Second City’s Holidazed & Confused Revue. The skits and improvisation had us laughing out loud (LOL) for two hours… one intermission was included.
11:00 p.m.
After an awesome date night, we came home to cuddle with Miss G on a very cold winter’s night. Good Night!
That was a pretty typical Saturday for my family. However, if we plan to stay in for the evening, it usually involves my husband grilling and a Netflix marathon (after Miss G goes to sleep). I hope you enjoyed a little insight into my life… I’m just a normal suburban mom with a love of family and friends, and a flair for style and blogging.
