Antique Christmas at the Taft Museum

Antique Christmas at the Taft Museum is one of Cincinnati’s most delightful holiday traditions. Open Wednesdays through Sundays until Jan. 5, Antique Christmas at the Taft Museum is family friendly, fun and (if you go on a Sunday), free!

Antique Christmas is the Taft’s annual display of ornaments, decorations and toys from ages past. Everything in this exhibit is from 1820-1931, the time period during which the Taft Museum was inhabited. Families and collectors lend their treasures to the Taft for display in this annual exhibit.

While Antique Christmas is an ever-changing display, you can always count on a variety of Santas, Nutcrackers and old-fashioned toys.

This year’s exhibit features lots of fun displays especially for kids, from classic Disney characters to cheerful gnomes. Kids will love exploring the different exhibits and pointing out their favorite things. Museums can be daunting for families — but Antique Christmas is very kid friendly.

For parents, fun photo opps abound. As you walk in, have your kids say cheese in front of the large Christmas tree in the lobby, or one of the decked-to-the-nines trees in the exhibit. (The Taft Museum itself is easily one of the photogenic spots in the city — if weather allows, definitely get a few photos at the stunning Patrick Dougherty exhibition on the Taft’s front lawn!) And if you’re looking for a Santa sighting, you’ll want to mark your calendar for the *free* Holiday Kick Off event on Dec. 1!

Antique Christmas is good, old-fashioned holiday fun. Kids will get a kick out of all the old décor, parents will get a hefty dose of nostalgia and the whole family will feel all warm-and-fuzzy with holiday spirit after browsing these charming displays.

Antique Christmas is open Wednesday-Sunday through Jan. 5, 2020 at the Taft Museum of Art. Admission is $12 for adults ($10 if purchased online) and FREE for all kids 18 and under. Admission (and parking!) to the Taft Museum of Art is always free on Sunday.
