Nakama means "friend that is like family" in Japanese. Nakama Studios' mission is to bring the community together to learn, make friends, and find new hobbies and interests. In a society, where everyone stays busy working and feels the need to constantly be busy and productive, Nakama Studios' goal is to provide a place, classes, and events for people to slow down and focus on some much-needed self-care. There are so many opportunities provided at Nakama Studio for people to care for their mental health by attending classes to learn a new skill including Painting, Baking, Cake and Cookie Decorating, Drawing, Pottery, Apothecary, Gardening, Beekeeping, Ceramic Painting, Crochet, Jewelry Making and an ever-changing variety of DIY classes led by the Owner and other local business owners who love to share their expertise.
The community can care for their mental and physical health by attending the variety of wellness events regularly offered including Sound Baths, Yoga with Puppies or Kittens which is offered for all ages, or Yoga with Baby Goats which is offered for ages 10+. Wellness Afternoons are offered several times a year that allow people to book private sessions with service providers for Sound Healing, Massage, Reiki, Tarot Reading, Acupressure, and more, shop local products, enjoy light refreshments, and enjoy some pampering.
The owner is a homeschool mom, so there are also many educational classes offered for families to supplement their homeschool education including Science-based classes, Engineering, Robotics, Art, Sewing, Fiber Arts, and more. The studio also offers a co-op for homeschoolers that want to connect with other homeschoolers in the community.
If you are seeking a location to host a Birthday Party or Private Event, Nakama will host and provide a wide variety of activity options to choose from or offer up their party room for rent to those who want to host a Birthday Party, Baby Shower, Wedding Reception, Rehearsal Dinner, Retirement Party or any other private event. Nakama is also happy to host field trips for schools, daycare centers, retirement homes, etc., and lead scouts in badge-earning activities.
Nakama offers a year-round reading program for youth to be rewarded with prizes for reading and hosts therapy dogs for kids to read to throughout the year, a large fully-stocked free library cabinet, and a free art and craft shelf for the community to shop from and donate unwanted supplies.
As a small locally-owned business, Nakama Studio strives to support other local businesses by offering regular networking events, providing a space for other business owners to teach and sell their products, and providing opportunities for businesses to showcase their products and services. In the entryway of the studio, there is a table and bulletin board loaded with business cards from all locally owned small businesses.
Nakama Studio truly has something for everyone and is always open to adding additional classes and offerings requested by the community.
