Free Fitness Events at Riverscape MetroPark

Five Rivers MetroParks will offer live music and new community fitness classes, in addition to Fitness in the Park, starting this May at RiverScape MetroPark, 237 E. Monument Ave. in downtown Dayton.

Kicking off festival season, Passport to MetroParks is on Friday, May 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. This free, family-friendly festival is an opportunity to preview all the happenings in Five Rivers MetroParks this summer, from cultural festivals to MetroParks’ programs.

On Friday, May 20, from 7 to 9 a.m., Five Rivers MetroParks invites the community to celebrate Bike to Work Day during the return of its annual National Bike to Work Day Pancake Breakfast. Participants are encouraged to bike to this free, pancake-flipping breakfast featuring live music, a cycling expo and more. Learn more at www.metroparks.org/bike-to-work-day.

 

New this year, Five Rivers MetroParks has collaborated with community fitness organizations to offer evening fitness sessions during the week at RiverScape MetroPark. May community fitness dates are:

Returning this year are free yoga and Zumba classes as part of Fitness in the Park. These all-levels classes are held under the RiverScape pavilion and are from 10 to 11 a.m. on select Saturdays. May dates include:

Participants should remember to bring their own mat, towel and reusable water bottle to Fitness in the Park and community fitness classes. Registration is not required.

 

Each Wednesday starting May 4, RiverScape MetroPark will host Music @ Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to bring their lunch or purchase lunch at the RiverScape Café and enjoy it outside along the Great Miami River and enjoy live acoustic music. The Fountain Snack Bar will open Memorial Day weekend on Saturday May 28, and offer snacks and cool treats, such as ice cream and drinks. Hours of operation are:

  • Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Fridays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and
  • Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesdays through Fridays, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., lunch items, snacks and drinks will be available at the RiverScape Café, which opens May 31.

The interactive fountains and Five Rivers Fountain of Lights will operate from Memorial Day, May 31, to Labor Day, Sept. 5. The Five Rivers Fountain of Lights operates for 10-minute intervals at the top of the hour during the weekdays from 6:55 a.m. to 10:05 p.m. and during weekends from 10:55 a.m. to 10:05 p.m. Splash in the interactive fountains daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
