Madeira Farmers’ Market will host its 3rd Annual Kids Taste-A-Thon, July 21st on Dawson Avenue, by the fountain, in the heart of historic downtown Madeira. Kids take a tasty trip through the market, sampling items from participating vendors as they go! For each vendor sampled, the child will receive a sticker on their sampling sheet. Once a child has sampled the required number of items for their age range, they may come back to the registration booth to vote on their “Favorite Food,” ‘Most Unique Food,” or “Best Texture,” and receive a market dollar to spend.
Last year’s favorites included strawberry lemonade, pumpkin butter, honey, tomatoes, peaches, pineapple jam, yellow watermelon, turkey sausage and pizza! All participants must begin with a sampling sheet at the “Support Your Local Farmers’” Booth. Tasters must be under 18 years old. Market manager, Leah Berger reports: “Kids of all ages are always looking for something fun to do in the summer, and last year’s Taste-A-Thon was a huge hit! We had over 140 participants come from all over the Cincinnati area to try fresh produce and locally made foods.” Reluctant participants will still have plenty to do at the market: tour the market, see baby piglets, listen to live music, make a chalk drawing, or play in the water by the fountain!
