Six Ways To Enjoy Presidents’ Day

If the kids are off school or you’re needing a jump start on some positively presidential activities, we’ve pulled together this little list of places for Presidents’ Day fun in Cinci.

{As always, times and details are subject to change so we recommend phoning the venue to confirm.}

6. Make time for a purely presidential storytime. Blue Manatee Children’s Bookstore will host presidential-themed fun in-store including stories like “President Taft Is Stuck In The Bath”, and a “What I’d Do As President” writing activity. 3pm. Best recommended for ages 6 and up; reservations required. Save your spot by calling 513-731-2665 or bluemanateebooks.com.

5. Tap into your inner artist with a special activity at Brazee Street Studios. Many presidents – including President Obama! – were art enthusiasts, so why not create some glass art at this one-of-a-kind workshop. Students can use a variety of bullseye glass materials to create a unique 6×8″ fused glass self portrait. 10am. 513-321-0206 or brazeestreetstudios.com.

4. Enjoy a movie matinee with Blue Ash Branch Library. At 1:30pm the Library will celebrate Presidents’ Day with a fun PG-rated family movie {sources tell us it might be Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day!}, popcorn and lemonade. Open to all ages and free. 513-369-6051 or cincinnatilibrary.org/branches/blueash.html.

3. It’s Kids Maple Day at the Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve. Did you know President Thomas Jefferson was one of the original supporters for maple syrup producers? So it only seems fitting to take the kiddos to a class about the tradition of maple sugaring. Includes a movie, hike, syrup tasting and more. 10am + 1pm. $6/pp. 513-521-7275 or greatparks.org.

2. Join a party fit for a… president at the Cheviot Library Branch. Kids in grades 4-6 can come enjoy some laid-back afternoon fun. Party will include snacks, games and a good round of presidential trivia. Runs 4-5pm and free. 513-369-6015 or cincinnatilibrary.org/branches/cheviot.html.

1. Visit the President William Howard Taft National Historic Site… for free. Presidents’ Day is one of a handful of days throughout the year with free admission. The fun begins with Junior Ranger activities at 10am and continues through the day with guided tours of Taft’s home, exclusive artifacts and more. Open from 8am-4pm. 513-684-3262 or nps.gov/wiho/index.htm.
