Before putting on stretchy pants for the big meal, runners tie up their shoe laces and hit the pavement running. For many families, Thanksgiving Day tradition begins with a chilly morning race for great causes.
Here are the top Thanksgiving Races in Southwest Ohio:
TQL 5K & Western and Southern 10K | November 23, 9am
For the first time in 114 years, both races—the TQL 5k and the W & S 10k—will finish on the field at TQL Stadium. Cue that finish line pose! You and your family will feel like superstars; and more importantly, experience a special moment in race history—and YOUR history—as you take in that ‘winning’ feeling—not because you were first—but that you experienced a “first” in your life.
Cincinnati Hungry Turkey Half Marathon | November 25 8:30a
Race highlights include Holtman’s Donuts at the finish line, runner’s choice premium quarter zip or long sleeve and new 2023 medal for every finisher! The Hungry Turkey run for a cause benefits Whole Again, feeding at risk children and enriching lives.
Dayton Turkey Trot | November 26 8:30a
Benefit the YWCA with the annual Turkey Trot featuring Bill’s Donuts at the finish line! Options include a 5k and half marathon down the riverfront of Dayton.
Dayton Leftover Turkey Trot | 2023 dates to come
What a great way to have fun and wrap up the Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends! Participants will go home with some amazing swag including a hooded performance fleece sweatshirt with full color print, race bib, finishers medal, personal pie and more! Kids Fun Run kicks off at 9am, 5k and 10k following after.
Fleet Feet Thanksgiving Training
The Thanksgiving Training Program is the perfect addition to your fall marathon or half program – or if you just want to get yourself (back) in shape for the big Turkey Day run! The schedule will extend your running and walking beyond fall marathon season and focus more on fun, shorter, and less intense workouts (who doesn’t love that?!). The weekday group training runs will be 2-4 miles and our Saturday group runs will work their way up to the full 10K (6.2 mile) distance. This will be a perfect build for those just getting started as well as an ideal active recovery schedule for those just finishing up a marathon or half training and race.
