The eCard for Teachers

I know e-cards are supposed to be funny, and don’t get me wrong, the first few I saw were hilarious, but the following three or four hundred after that were a little too much.

I want to talk about one e-card in particular that showed up on my Facebook page several times this past week.

Summer: the time of year when parents realize just how grossly underpaid teachers actually are.

It is usually shared by a parent that is home with their child(children) for the summer. The card is usually followed by some comment like, “Don’t I know it!” or “Tell me about it! LOL!” Yep another ecard that’s funny, because it’s true.

Gee, thanks for throwing support to your kids’ teachers.

I have a better idea though.

How about instead of thinking about your kids’ teachers in the summer time, you remember them in the fall, winter and spring?

Maybe you could remember this card when you decide to ignore a teacher’s phone calls or emails about your child. Or when you are defensive about your child never ever causing a problem at school, but assuming they are the victim.

You could support teachers by not ignoring a request for a couple of dollars for a year end party, or to volunteer for a couple of hours at the school, or to send in extra Kleenex for the classroom. No, the teacher is not stockpiling Kleenex to take home, the teacher is probably tired of spending their own money on Kleenex for your (literally) snot nosed kids.

If you feel offended after reading this, then chances may guilty of the above.

Now back to the task at hand, getting those e-cards off my Timeline.

Happy Parenting!
