There’s Always Snow at Beach Mountain

Cincinnati can be very hit-or-miss when it comes to snow. Some years, we have snow on the ground for weeks at a time. Other years, we don’t have enough snowfall to warrant even one snow day. Generally, we can count on a few good snows each season — but it can be very unpredictable.

What if I told you there’s a place in Cincinnati where you can take your kids to sled all winter long? There’s always snow at Beach Mountain!

The Beach Waterpark is likely on your radar for summer fun. But the park’s winter attraction, Beach Mountain, is just as thrilling as its summer sister. Beach Mountain is a 400-foot snow tubing hill with real, fresh, white snow. Snow tubing is for guests over 42” — and there’s a special area for younger kids to sled, make mini snowmen and play.

My older two were tall enough to snow tube, and they eagerly approached Beach Mountain. You’ll find snow tubes at the bottom, and my kids were able to pull their own tube to the lift using the handle and bungee cord. The surface lift made getting up the 400-foot-long Beach Mountain quick and easy, allowing my kids to go down multiple times before they got too tired. We went on a Sunday morning around noon, and never had to wait in any lines.

Safety is top priority at Beach Mountain: there were three attendants at the top and I was impressed by how smoothly and safely they kept things moving. They helped my kids into their tubs at the top and gave them a gentle push to get going. The hill is long, but not super steep, so kids can enjoy a fun ride that isn’t too fast or scary. (I went down the hill and totally screamed louder than my kids!)

My youngest watched his older siblings with interest, but definitely wasn’t missing out. The play area featured real snowfall and a toddler friendly hill, and Harvey had a blast sledding all by himself!

This play area was so fun, Julian and Mary happily joined their brother for fun in the snow. There was real snow blowing over the play area, which my kids loved running through. It made me very excited for some snow days this winter!

You remember that feeling from childhood, when you’d play in the snow all day and come inside so tired — but also so happy? That’s how we all felt after an afternoon at Beach Mountain. It was really amazing to be able to have a family play date in the snow, and a great way to kick off the New Year!
