Worth the Drive: Travel by Train to the Pumpkin Patch on the Ohio River Scenic Railway

Visiting a pumpkin patch is a great fall tradition. And what better way to get there than by train? Take The Pumpkin Express and travel by rail to pick out your pumpkin.

Ohio River Scenic Railway’s Pumpkin Patch Express 

The Pumpkin Patch Express is run by the Ohio River Scenic Railway and is located about 2.5 hours south of Indianapolis. On this fall train ride, passengers will depart from either Stone Ridge Station in Santa Claus, IN or Tell City Depot in Tell City, IN, depending on the day. The train then travels 10 miles round trip to the pumpkin patch. Once the train arrives at the pumpkin patch, passengers will disembark and look for the perfect pumpkin. Pumpkins are available for purchase, and prices start at $5 per pumpkin. Passengers will then board the train again, and decorate pumpkins as the train heads back to the station.

When Does the Pumpkin Patch Express run?

The Pumpkin Patch Express runs on Saturdays and Sundays in October. Trips leave at 1 pm and 4 pm on both days.

The Pumpkin Patch Express departs from either Stone Ridge Station in Santa Claus, IN or Tell City Depot in Tell City, IN, depending on the day.

October 1, 2, 22, 23, 29, and 30: The Pumpkin Patch Express will depart from Stone Ridge Station, 1450 W Christmas Blvd, Santa Claus, IN 47579.

October 8, 9, 15, and 16: The Pumpkin Patch Express will depart from Tell City Depot, 333 7th St, Tell City, IN 47586.
