Last month, Yelp! Cincy showed us where to score chocolate-covered bacon, homemade ice cream and some dreamy, Willy Wonka confection called a Marshmallow Cloud.
This month, Yelp! Cincy is sharing the best places to pick up the best picnic lunch for your afternoon at the park (which, conveniently, you can also find at Yelp!). While we love PB&J as much as anyone, we’re not going to protest about “world-famous chicken salad,” fresh pasta salad or a fancified, Elvis-style, peanut butter and banana pita.
Is your tummy rumbling yet?
Without further ado, here’s Cindy!

Carl’s Food Shop

Have some picky eaters on your hands? Whatever the need, Carl’s offers you the ability to create your own sandwich or choose from one of over 50 different sandwich options. Boxed lunches are available for $10.99 per person. Call ahead and choose a sandwich, one side: pasta, potato or fruit salad, a huge cookie and voila – perfect picnic complete!
Yelp Tip: Don’t miss grabbing a pint of Jeni’s ice cream on your way out. Carl’s is one of the few shops in the area that carry it. (Cincinnati Parent Tip: Try the Salted Carmel. It will change your world!)
Picnic & Pantry
Location: Northside & OTR
It really is all in the name! Picnic & Pantry is the prime spot for all of your picnic needs. Their fare includes ready-made sandwiches, salads, homemade chips, pinwheel platters, and boxed lunches. They also have great vegetarian and gluten-free options. With a full catering menu to choose from, the picnic possibilities are endless!
Silverglades on 8th

Cincinnati’s oldest family owned and operated deli knows their way around a boxed lunch. Call ahead and order from a plethora of grab and go options. They will even handle the utensils and condiments to make sure you’re picnic ready.
Chef’s Cafe
Location: Montgomery
Known for their “world famous chicken salad,” this is a must-have. Pair that famed salad with a pickle spear, and your choice of cookie or brownie.
Yelp Tip: Chef’s is located right next to the Loveland Bike Trail for a picturesque post-picnic activity with the fam!
Balance Cafe & Smoothies
Location: Loveland
Balance Cafe not only offers boxed lunches and a kids menu but they also offer fresh fruit smoothies that will be the perfect cool down on a hot day.
Yelp Tip: Looking to sneak some protein into your little Yelper’s diet? Opt for the peanut butter banana pita. A fresh banana sliced atop peanut butter and strawberries on a whole wheat soft pita. Your kids will be begging you for more!
