In the heart of Over-The-Rhine is a total Hidden Gem: Ziegler Park. This treasure has amenities for the entire family, plus it’s within walking distance of OTR’s most famous restaurants and shops. Before the summer ends, or even throughout the year, take time to visit and enjoy this newly renovated public park.
The public pool at Ziegler Park closes for the season on September 10, 2023.
Ziegler Park is a 4.5-acre green space located between the OTR and Pendleton neighborhoods, and is named after Cincinnati’s first mayor, David Ziegler. In 2016, Ziegler Park underwent contraction to renovate and expand the park. And now, this park is community-friendly with amazing features such as a large pool, upgraded basketball courts, a playground, a game grove, beautiful lawn… and a splayground!!!
My family enjoyed a gorgeous Saturday morning at Ziegler Park. Our immediate impression was “WOW.” There was plenty of street metered parking and a large underground parking garage open and staffed 24 hours a day. And my daughter couldn’t wait to enjoy all the amenities of this modern and extremely clean park.
My daughter was thrilled with the playground. It is filled with unique play equipment encouraging exercise, social interaction and interactive/imaginative play. Plus, the playground is entirely ADA accessible… it’s truly for everyone. The playground is also connected to the sprayground. This is the perfect place for your kids to cool off after lots of climbing, running and jumping around the playground. Plus, for parents there is plenty of shaded seating that is clearly visible from the playground.
And my favorite feature… Ziegler Park is monitored by a Play Ambassador. Their role is to: ensure the park is safe and secure, that the grounds remain clean, rules are enforced, answer questions and provide first aid care as needed.
Ziegler Park also offers more amazing features such as:
- Public pool with a zero-depth entry, five regulation 25-meter lanes and a deep end with a one-meter diving board and climbing wall
- Game Grove with a collection of games for children and adults including chess, checkers, bocce and table tennis
- Basketball courts with six hoops, 3 full courts and four goals for futsal (hard surface soccer)
- Lawn with 2 acres of green space, walking loop, seawalls and shaded tree groves
Ziegler Park is a new family favorite, and we plan to make many visits while enjoying all of what OTR has to offer. Click here for more information on Ziegler Park’s hours, amenities, rentals and events.
