After a weird May (record lows?! tons of rain?!), it seems summer is finally making its debut in Cincinnati. This weekend won’t only feel like summer in terms of the weather, it will also feel like summer with the selection of summery events! In looking through our Online Calendar, we couldn’t help but notice a theme: it’s beginning to look a lot like summer!

Buckeye BBQ Fest
May 19-20 at The Square at Union Centre
Festivals are a quintessential part of summer — and this weekend’s Buckeye BBQ Fest is guaranteed to whet your appetite for summer fun! This festival features 16 BBQ vendors; 10 dessert vendors; a Classic Car Show; and on Saturday, a FREE Kids Zone with inflatable bouncy rides and a petting zoo from noon until 7 p.m.
Water Safety Day
May 20 at Goldfish Swim School in West Chester
Summer and Swimming go hand in hand — but first, it’s crucial your kids know their way around the water. This Saturday, the water safety experts at Goldfish Swim School West Chester are teaming up with the safety experts at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to bring you the first annual Safety Day Event! We will be educating attendees of all ages on critical tips and techniques that will help keep your family safer all year long! Event highlights include family swim, a coloring contest, safety demonstrations, snacks, raffle prizes and much more! May 21 at 2 p.m. at Upper Ross Park
Cincinnati is a baseball city, through and through — and the Reds aren’t the only game in town! The Cincinnati Vintage Baseball Club provides an entertaining educational experience that accurately portrays the game of baseball according to the rules and customs of the day. Come out to Ross Park and enjoy an authentic game of baseball! FREE.
Wild Art Funday
May 21 from 1-4 p.m. at the Taft Museum
Taft Museum puts the “fun” in Sunday Funday, and this month’s Wild Art Funday is sure to have your family taking a walk on the wild side! Explore the animal life in the Taft collection, create your own geometric animal, and learn more about animals in art at the Art Cart. Get your face painted, and stop by our Meet the Zoo Animals station from 2-3 p.m. for a close encounter with a few visitors from the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. FREE!
