Camp WAVE combines learning and exploration with animal ambassadors through entertaining programming that engages young learners in the aquatic world.
Camps are hosted at the WAVE Education Center at Newport on the Levee, with daily trips to the Newport Aquarium to experience the wonder of aquatic creatures first-hand.

Does WAVE Foundation provide lunch/snacks or do parents need to provide them?
Camp provides snacks, but not lunch. Campers must bring a lunch.
What is the typical daily schedule for campers?
9:00 am – 9:20 am – Arrival, bio break, travel time (as needed)
9:20 am – 10:45 am – Aquarium Time (Feed/ Chats if applicable)
10:45 am – 11:00 am – Travel time, bio break, Introduction to the Day
11:00 am – 11:30 am – Lunch
11:30 am – 12:00 am – Animal Encounter #1
12:00 am – 12:30 am – Recess

How old are the counselors and how are they trained?
Counselors are at least 18 years of age. They complete a 4 day orientation prior to the start of Camp.
All of our Camp WAVE instructors, and many additional staff, are CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.
Every WAVE staff member has completed the Darkness to Light Stewards of Children training to prevent, recognize, and report child sexual abuse. This internationally recognized training is endorsed by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Every WAVE staff member signs a Code of Conduct, which includes policies and practices such as never allowing an adult team member to be alone with a minor and never having private interactions through social media with a child.
Every WAVE staff member must pass a background check prior to employment.



What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?
WAVE Foundation staff members complete Kulture City training. WAVE offers a Calming Corner, with several sensory tools and manipulatives. If a camper typically requires an aide at school, WAVE Foundation requires that an aide be present to support the camper while at Camp WAVE.
