My family has a very special fall tradition. A few days before Halloween we watch It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. The animated feature included many scenes with the Peanuts gang at a lush pumpkin patch with the largest, most beautiful pumpkins. This same pumpkin patch exists at the Garver Family Farm Market. Bring the family and find out that the Great Pumpkin is no myth.
Located off Route 63 in Middletown, Garver Family Farm Market is a working farm that produces and sells affordable fresh produce throughout the year. On a lovely fall morning, my family pulled into the drive of the most quaint and beautiful farm we had ever seen. Right away, I knew this place was a Cincinnati “hidden gem”.
Garver Family Farm Market is open to the public; and their knowledgeable staff is very welcoming. Once understanding the farm’s map, we borrowed a wagon and made our way to the giant pumpkin patch. And the hunt for the perfect pumpkin began. The selection was amazing; and I had never seen so many large, round, kid-sized pumpkins EVER! And they were picture perfect in their natural habitat. I heard my husband say that “this place is what fall is all about.” If the pumpkin patch is not your cup of tea, there’s a variety of pumpkins available for sale at the farm shop.
After my family found our Great Pumpkin and spent some time taking fall photos in the fields, we walked the rows of colorful mums… so many sizes, colors and types. From this day forward, I will only purchase my mums from Garver Family Farm Market. Plus, to complete your fall décor, hay, corn stalks, dried corn and sunflowers are for purchase.
Lastly, we took some time in the adorably decorated shop. This little market is packed with fresh seasonal produce and items from other local farms and businesses. We settled on pumpkin ice cream, fresh peppers and the most amazing sweet/spicy salsa (we are going back next weekend for more…didn’t last long on a football Sunday).
Just a short drive north of Cincinnati, Garver Family Farm Market is a treasure that will easily become your family’s next ”go-to” for all your seasonal produce needs.
