Top Tubing Destinations Around Southwest Ohio

Floating down a real river is one of the easiest summer wins: not too much planning, not too much gear and just enough adventure to count as a memory. These river tubing spots around Southwest Ohio and nearby drive-worthy destinations rent the equipment, handle the shuttle and get families on the water without turning the day into a logistical group project.

As always, check river conditions before you go. Heavy rain, high water or low water can change routes, timing and availability fast.

Great Miami River

Phone: 937-266-6252
River: Great Miami River
Trip: 3.5 miles, about two to four hours
Tubing: $25 per person

Adventures on the Great Miami is a good Dayton-area tubing pick for families who want a straightforward float without reservations. Tube rentals include the shuttle, life jacket and paddle, and shoes are required. Trips run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, weather permitting, and everyone must be off the river by 7 p.m.

Children must be at least 3 years old and 30 pounds. Children younger than 7 ride with an adult in a tandem vessel, so this is worth checking before you promise the whole car a river day.

Tubing: $20 per tube

The outfitter offers different tube options, including tubes with bottoms, classic tubes, double tubes and cooler tubes.

For families, weekdays and Sundays are usually the better bet. Saturdays can be more social and crowded, which is either fun or deeply not fun, depending on your children and your tolerance for other people’s Bluetooth speakers.

Phone: 419-994-4097

Tube trips include life jackets and transportation to and from the river. Reservations are not accepted for river trips, and tubes can sell out on weekends, so arrive early.
