Families looking for a low-key outing before summer winds down have a new option about 30 miles northeast of Cincinnati. The Lebanon Mason & Monroe Railroad is running its first annual Rootin’ Tootin’ Train Ride on Aug. 15, a toy-box-themed excursion built around a cowboy, a cowgirl and a space ranger.
The ride runs 1 hour and 15 minutes and is open to all ages. The railroad is partnering with The Fairy Godmother Events for the ride, with balloon artists working the train during the trip.
How It Works
Seating isn’t reserved. At check-in, riders get boarding material listing which train car their reservation is assigned to, then choose their own seats within that car. Families or friends who booked separately and want to sit together need to call the ticket office directly at 513-933-8022 at least 48 hours before their scheduled ride. The railroad notes it cannot guarantee seating changes on the day of a reservation, so that call is worth making early rather than showing up and hoping.

The Rootin’ Tootin’ Train Ride offers two seating tiers, Coach and Deluxe, each broken out by age:
- Coach Class Adult (ages 18 to 61): $25
- Coach Class Child (ages 2 to 17): $20
- Coach Class Senior (62 and older): $20
- Coach Class Infant (under 2, lap rider): $10
- Deluxe Class Adult (ages 18 to 61): $35
- Deluxe Class Child (ages 2 to 17): $30
- Deluxe Class Senior (62 and older): $30
