Is your family in need of a summer staycation? Well, adventure awaits in Warren County, Ohio’s Largest Playground®, at Great Wolf Lodge. Located in Mason, this vacation destination has everything your entire family desires under one roof: an indoor water park, activities, attractions and delicious dining options. Stay for a night or a week; Great Wolf Lodge is a getaway experience that will have kids of all ages reminiscing until your next visit.
Last week, my daughter and I along with another awesome mother/daughter duo enjoyed a mini summer staycation at Great Wolf Lodge. This girls’ night away was a celebration of the beginning of summer, and much-needed r&r that everyone needed after the busy school year. As we drove onto the parking lot, the resort came into view and the excitement began. We gathered our belongings and headed into the rustic and cozy three-story lobby where we were greeted by the friendly staff. At check-in, the girls received complimentary wolf ears and their waterpark wrist bands. The adults also received wrist bands which worked as our room key and (optional) credit card.
As we headed up to our room, we toured the lodge to review dining options, shopping and of course the water park. Every room at Great Wolf is a suite; and ours was spectacular with amenities such as a fireplace, balcony and semi-private living space. Once our bags were settled and we freshened up, it was time for Great Wolf’s largest attraction… the indoor water park.
The indoor water park is included in your lodge stay; and no matter the weather, your family can play all day and evening. This massive aquatic playground is incredible featuring slides, wave pool, fort tree house, activity pools and hot tubs. And as the girls spent hours riding thrilling slides such as the Hydro Plunge, River Canyon Run and Alberta Falls, the moms enjoyed the view on lounge chairs and taking a few relaxing turns floating on the lazy river, Crooked Creek. Also, since it was a nice evening, we took a dip in the outdoor pool as well. Note: No need to bring beach towels, Great Wolf Lodge provides them and they must stay in the water park area.
All of us worked up quite the appetite and enjoyed a late dinner in our room provided by Hungry As A Wolf, take-out pizza and other delicious Italian options. We enjoyed a pajama party with pizza, salad and yummy fettucine…and a little chocolate for dessert. Then after playing a few board games and watching the Disney Channel, it was time for bed because more adventure was awaiting us in the morning.
The girls were up early; and the moms needed our coffee. Great Wolf has a Dunkin Donuts! We enjoyed breakfast sandwiches, donuts and lattes which energized us for MagiQuest. This fantasy/virtual game is played throughout the entire lodge. The girls purchased special MagiQuest wands, toppers and belts; and then set off on their chosen quests. They immersed themselves in Vellara, a realm of enchantment, befriended the Treetop Pixies, battled Charlock, the evil dragon and fought to defeat the Goblin King. Note: Make sure to bring your souvenir wand and accessories back on your next Great Wolf Lodge stay. They can be used over again with the purchase of new MagiQuest adventures.
Before our staycation ended, we ventured to the spa. Next time we are booking mother/daughter manicures and pedicures at the Scoops Kids Spa. Everyone needs a little pampering and book when making reservations for your stay! This place is very popular and absolutely adorable.
This was just a little taste of what Great Wolf Lodge offers your family. It’s incredible how many amenities and activities are available for kids and adults. For more information or to book, please visit Great Wolf Lodge.
