Registration is now open for TCT’s Fall Season 2 classes. TCT Academy has added to its virtual offerings for the Fall 2 session, which runs Oct. 27 through Dec. 17 (no classes during Thanksgiving week).
While TCT Academy’s format looks a bit different this fall, the mission hasn’t changed. TCT’s mission — to educate, entertain and engage audiences through theatrical productions and arts education — is accomplished during each and every TCT class and production, even in the midst of a pandemic.
Julian has participated in a variety of TCT Academy classes and camps the last several years, and was excited to take part in Virtual Drama Club this fall. After registering, we received an email with links and downloadable materials for the class, which met on Wednesdays from 4:15-5 pm. As Julian is doing virtual learning this year, he was familiar with Zoom meetings and this class format, and had no issues logging in to class each week.
After a day of virtual learning, Drama Club provided a fun outlet for Julian. He looked forward to this class each week. Drama Club explored foundational acting techniques and how to develop and build characters. Each session, the students worked on memorizing a script for a final virtual performance. Through a variety of exercises and assignments, Drama Club ultimately helped the students with teamwork, focus, memorization, observation, listening and imagination — you know, skills kids (and adults!) need everyday.
Julian is naturally outgoing, but I’ve noticed him become a bit more reserved as he’s gotten older. With TCT Academy — and especially this virtual format — Julian has a space where he can comfortably ‘let loose.’ The virtual classes make participation easy for kids, and I feel like he’s really starting to come into his own. Mr. Scott is so engaging and funny, and each Wednesday afternoon, Julian was part of a warm and inclusive club.
This fall, as parents wrestle with decisions about schooling and activities, let TCT Academy be an easy one. If you’re looking for an engaging and worthwhile extracurricular, TCT Academy is *the* place to go. TCT Academy offers top-notch performing arts instruction from a professional theatre company, introducing children to all elements of live theatre, incorporating educational aspects as well as important life skills and milestones. At its core, TCT Academy is about building confidence. And as we forge ahead in uncertain times, bolstering our kids’ confidence is perhaps the best thing we can do for them.
